Part 5 of a whole new series on photoshop tutorials for beginners. These videos should help you to get started with photoshop and learn your way around menus, tools, functions, etc. I am taking on a practical approach aimed at photographers so I will be explaining all tools on photography examples. There are many videos on the net on complex manipulations and all the cool stuff that one can do inside photoshop, but for anyone who just bought a subscription photoshop can be intimidating and difficult to get one's head around all those functions.
In this video I will show you on practical examples how to understand and use layers and masks in photoshop, which is probably the most basic and at the same time powerful feature of photoshop. Layers and layer masks are perfect for working non-destructively on an image and creating clean high quality edits. Working with layers and masks can be seen as more complex and time consuming than performing simple edits in Lightroom, but if you care about quality of your work and like to have full control over which direction you want to bring your editing to, then photoshop layers and masks are perfect for it. Layers and masks are very useful for simple photo editing, but absolutely essential for more complex projects like composite photography and advanced photo manipulations.
