This is the first part of a full on in depth tutorial series in which I will show you step by step how to edit a portrait in photoshop and give it that polished professional look. It will be an extensive commentary covering not only editing but also my thought flow before during choosing a photo for editing and all reasons behind it. I want to show you that taking photos is only one of many steps in producing stunning images, and knowing how to select your image and then edit it should be a vital part of your workflow as a photographer.
In this part I am discussing what criteria I use for choosing an image for editing. I compare images in the filmstrip and explain all reasons behind my choice. I also talk about necessary tools that you should have to bring your photo editing to another level, and lastly I am doing pre-editing in Adobe Camera RAW before exporting image to photoshop. In upcoming parts of this tutorial series I will show you a full editing process of one of the images.
