- rneustel: +TheaterRaven Exactly. I mean, what could silly women possibly know about curing diseases, and people in the communities were perfectly happy with things until the church got involved.
- Mystic Musings: +TheaterRaven It's an interesting and accurate comparison! Can you imagine the outrage if a man rushed into CVS and started screaming about the women being witches!?
- TheaterRaven: +rneustel Exactly. It's crazy if you think about it long enough. It'd be like bursting into a pharmacy today and declaring the staff was all witches and sorcerers. Heck, that actually happened back in the day with alchemists (the forefathers of chemistry). Not to say that there isn't evil out there or that everyone in the Catholic Church is close-minded, but as long as people are doing good and spreading love and not hurting anyone, I personally don't care what they believe or how they practice their spirituality.
- rneustel: I did learn a few things. I knew about the wise women, and I think that it's really sad that what was really beneficial to the health was said to be "bad." I'm a Christian, but I really disagree with what the church did here.
